Who is DMEGC? – Company Background

DMEGC have emerged recently on the solar panel market in Australia, however they come with an established global presence. DMEGC Solar has shipped over 50GW of solar panels cumulatively. The company has five manufacturing facilities in China and one based in Indonesia, with a total capacity of 21GW of solar panels.

DMEGC’s parent company (Hengdian Group DMEGC Magnetics Co. ,Ltd) was founded in 1980 and the company was listed on the Shenzen Stock Exchange in 2006 (SZ:002056). Along with manufacturing photovoltaic products and lithium batteries, DMEGC is also the world’s largest soft magnetic material manufacturer. Hengdian Group looks to be financial stable with annual revenue of 12.06 billion Euros and a tier 1 rating by Bloomberg.

In 2024, DMEGC renewed efforts in Australia, partnering with local wholesalers Go Solar, Rexel and Energy Spurt. The DMEGC team advised Solar Choice that they are in the process of establishing a local office in Brisbane to demonstrate a long-term commitment to supporting Australian customers through 25 year plus lifetime of their products. We will update this review after we receive confirmation of DMEGC’s local office as this is usually a pre-requisite for us to recommend a solar panel.

What is a Bloomberg Tier 1 Solar Panel?

Important to note that Bloomberg’s infamous tier 1 ranking is NOT a measure of quality. It is simply an indication of the financial stability of the manufacturer. This should give you an idea if the company is a large, well-known manufacturer and likely to be around for the life of its warranty.

DMEGC Solar Panels are Bloomberg Tier 1.

What is PV Evolution Labs Top Performer?

PV Evolution Labs in our opinion are one of the most trustworthy independent testing labs. Their tests are conducted meticulously fairly and their results have correlated well with the better performing brands over the years they have conduct the tests.

In 2024, DMEGC solar panels had 15 different modules (all bifacial) listed as top performers in PV Evolution Labs testing. The residentially sized panels received this award in 5 of the 7 testing categories (thermal cycling, damp heat, mechanical stress sequence, hail stress sequence and PID)

Jinko Solar Panels have consistently been a top performer for the past 10 years, according to the PV Evolution Labs. They have achieved this by ranking highly in 5 tests (thermal cycling, damp heat, mechanical stress sequence, PID and LID + LETID) however were not high performers in the hail stress sequence or PAN performance tests.

Overall this is a good result in the testing procedure and is a good sign for DMEGC’s bifacial solar panels.

Why is an Australian Office Important?

Solar panels come with a long (25 year+) warranty. This warranty is only valuable to you if you have a clear method of claiming it. In many cases we’ve found that customers have been left trying to contact overseas headquarters for warranty claims which rarely leads to a positive outcome.

A company having a local office and lease in place is a minimum expectation to see they have made a longer term commitment to our Australian market.

DMEGC do not currently have an office in place, but have advised Solar Choice that they are in the process of establishing one.

How much do DMEGC Solar Panels cost?

The approximate retail price of DMEGC’s solar panels is listed below. Please note that this is accurate at the start of 2025 – these prices vary month to month. Additionally there are many other elements that will make up the final price to end users including inverters, wiring, labour, profit margin and other components.

DMEGC Solar Panel Range in Australia

DMEGC currently have 28 solar panel models approved by the Clean Energy Council for the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme, which is Australia’s home solar rebate program. All panels were approved during 2024.

The main models that are currently available to residential customers are 440W rated and detailed below.

Infinity RT – All Black Bifacial

DMEGC 440W solar panel binofacial DM440M10RT-B54HBT-L

The Infinity RT 440 watt solar panel (DM440M10RT-B54HBT-L) from DMEGC solar is their flagship product current available to Australian customers.

The panel features 108 half-cut, N-type solar cells. The solar panel has a maximum efficient rating of 22% which is above average compared to solar panels currently available on the market.

The solar panel has black cells and a black frame which creates an aesthetically pleasing result for homeowners with a visible roof space.

The bifacial solar panel has transparent cell design which allows more sunlight to travel through the panel and reflect onto the underside of the solar panel. In our opinion the bifacial solar panel will only significantly outperform a mono-facial solar panel if installed on tilt frames with a reflective roof material. See our full overview on bifacial solar panels here.

The solar panel also comes with a temperature co-efficient (Pmax) of -0.29%/°C. This reflects the amount of lost performance as the solar panel gets into higher and lower climates. This is a good score suggesting this panel will outperform some of the other solar panels on a

This solar panel is built with a 1.6mm of glass on either side of the silicon cells. Previous double glass solar panels have used 2mm of glass which makes the solar panel too heavy for installers to easily get onto a roof. This thinner glass construction may pose a greater risk of damage during a hail storm event as recent independent testing showed that 3.2mm glass front sheets with a plastic back sheet are much more resilient to hail than 2mm glass by 2mm glass.

Infinity RT – Mono-facial

DMEGC 440W solar panel monofacial DM440M10RT-54HBB

DMEGC Solar also have a mono facial option at the 440 watt size (DM440M10RT-54HBB).

This solar panel has a more traditional solar panel construction with a 3.2mm tempered glass front sheet. This thicker glass cover creates more protection from projectiles like hail striking the panel. The solar panel comes with a thin polymer (plastic) back sheet.

Due to the opaque black back sheet, this module comes with a ‘blacker’ appearance with no visible cell lines.

This means the solar panel can only generate power from the front side of the panel which will not make much impact if you are flush-mounting the solar panels to the roof (like most residential solar designs).

The Infinity RT mono facial comes with the same dimensions of 1.76m by 1.1m and is just 0.2kg heavier.

This panel would likely be a better option for customers in hail prone regions of Australia. Important to note that that all of DMEGC’s solar panel models that were named as top performers in PV Evolution Labs independent testing were bifacial.

DMEGC Solar’s Warranty Offer for Australian Customers

Solar Panels come with a product warranty and a performance warranty.

The product warranty covers manufacturing defects and is the warranty that is most commonly used by customers. In recent years, most solar panel manufacturers have bumped their product warranty for residential customers up to 25 years. DMEGC’s Infinity RT solar panels offered in Australian come with a 25 year product warranty which meets that high expectation of the market.

The performance warranty guarantees a minimum degradation rate for the panel. Although its quite rare for a residential customer to claim this warranty, it does provide some evidence around the amount of lost performance you can expect from your panel over time. DMEGC’s Infinity RT solar panels come with a 30 year performance warranty which guarantees no more than 1% efficiency loss in the first year and no more than 12.6% by the 30th year. This is a better than average performance warranty which suggests DMEGC’s panels will outperform their peers particularly towards the latter stages of their life.

Importantly DMEGC’s warranty notes that “any costs and expenses for the dismantling, removal, testing, packaging, installation or re installation of the Modules shall be assumed by the Customer” which means there is likely still to be a material cost for customers in the event of a warranty claim. Despite this wording in the warranty document, customers may have additional protections under Australian consumer law.

At the moment, customers will need to rely on their installer to facilitate the return process as DMEGC do not have an Australian office, website or direct warranty claim process and their contact information on warranty document is for a residential apartment in Sydney with a Chinese phone number and email.

Pros and Cons of DMEGC Solar Panels

Pros

  • Financial stable company with large manufacturing capacity
  • Low-cost price point as new entrant
  • Good temperature co-efficient and attractive performance warranty

Cons

  • Minimal support in Australia with no office, website or contact information
  • Dual glass (1.6mm by 1.6mm) solar panels potentially more susceptible to hail damage

The Final Word DMEGC Solar Panels

DMEGC’s solar panels stack up well from a technical standpoint, which is demonstrated by their good performance in PV Evolution Labs’ independent tests.

Their lightweight dual glass and bifacial solar panel looks like their best selling model. From the datasheets and information provided it all seems like DMEGC solar panels would perform as well as any of the other big name Chinese solar panel manufacturers that have been operating in Australia for years.

The main considerations to call out is at present their is minimal support from DMEGC for local Australian customers. Additionally in hail-prone regions, the evidence suggests that dual-glass solar panels are more likely to break than mono facial solar panels with a 3.2mm glass front sheet.
