Yesterday the ACT government announced that they will be releasing a new incentive program targeted at helping multi-unit apartment buildings install a shared solar system.
The $3.6 million program is designed to incentivise the take up of rooftop solar on apartment blocks and will be distributed half through rebates and half through interest free loans.
Body corporates will be able to access up to $100,000 in funding with eligibility to align with the eligibility for the Sustainable Households Scheme.
The government advises that they believe 92% of apartments will be eligible.
We are expecting more details to be released soon, with applications scheduled to open in Q3 of 2023.
To prepare to apply for this rebate, apartments will need to scope up the optimal solar project. Solar Choice’s can provide an independent assessment and manage a tender process across pre-vetted solar companies with experience installing share solar systems.
