About Rockys Solar
Rockys Solar is a business founded on community values.
Rockys started installing solar more than 12 years ago. In late in 2017, with an expanding focus on designing and installing solar and other energy solutions, Rockys opened a solar showroom in Sale and began trading with the name Rockys Solar to better identify the Energy Solutions side of the business. Rockys Solar has been a Clean Energy Council Approved Solar Retailer for the past few years and has an ongoing commitment to comply with the Clean Energy Council Code of Conduct.
Rockys has designed and installed solar systems on over 1000 homes in Gippsland and undertaken some large commercial projects including installing off grid solar at Licola Wilderness Village, grid connected solar at Wellington Shire Council’s Depots in Yarram and Maffra, multiple DELWP owned properties throughout the Gippsland region, Cabinet Connections, the Macalister Demonstration Farm and more. See our Clients Page for further details.
Rockys Solar’s story began more than 40 years ago as Rocky’s Electrical, founded by Electrician Rob “Rocky” Hekman who worked within the Gippsland community offering electrical contracting services covering everything from installing power switches to full commercial building fit-outs. Rockys Electrical has developed a strong reputation for quality and service throughout the Gippsland region. In recent years, Rob’s son Brett has taken leadership of the business and will continue to serve the Gippsland community over the next 40 years.
Some of Rockys Electrical’s major electrical projects over recent years include full electrical installation at the Wellington Shire Yarram Hub, The Education Department at Lavella College in Traralgon, Latrobe Shire Council’s Moe Precinct Community Center, Victoria Police Sale Headquarters, the new Aldi building and carpark in Traralgon and more.
Rockys currently employs 7 A Grade Electricians, 4 of which are Clean Energy Council Certified Installers. With a strong belief in training and education Rockys also employs 7 Apprentices, and periodically engage a number of labourers and work experience students throughout the year. 3 administration staff are also employed full time and one part time.
With strong roots in the Gippsland community Rockys are proud sponsors and supporters of many local community groups and events.
