The worst trade experience ever
Review left 3 years after system installed
The worst trade experience ever!!! This is a rushed review as I have time constraints and and much is likely left out. Firstly started with the sales rep, we were told that the max amount of panels we could get on our roof was 10.9 kw (later find out this is incorrect) Secondly we were sold an inverter Fronius Gen 24 plus 10kw inverter as it has an option that if there is a blackout you can run an extension lead from an additional powerpoint into your home. We were not told this is capped at approx 3kw or how to actually make this work. This inverter was not even in Australia at the time let alone available for sale in single phase configuration ( more on this later) The price was several thousand above any quotation we received but this company came recommended and was local so we support the local guys. Thirdly we are advised that In December 2022 the power networks are capping feeding at 5kwh so we better get in quick, so we sign up to support local and beat this 5kwh cap. Get email stating its all gone ahead and they will be in touch. Next couple weeks we hear nothing, it's getting to November so I call the office and they have not booked us in and they will call back, no call back. I chase them.up to arrange date of install and am told Called to arrange date of install, called day before to ask about install confirmation. Spoke with Nick and he said Zoe would call to confirm. Email came at 3:39pm the day before. They use contractors so Koality Electrical turn up the next day and are hopeless. Can't walk on the pitch that previous roofers had no issue with, leave door open for toddler at cat to get out, crack our freshly painted and plastered 100yr old ceilings, and foot and ladderarks all.over walls and ceiling near manhole, they change panel layout and place them also off centre with the front of the gable after I specifically stated previously for aesthetics. U want them symetrical. Used wrong diameter of cable to install, cracked timber roof beams, bent gutters, left rubbish...you name it. Then I go into garage to see new inverter is actually a Fronius Primo 8 which is not what we signed up for or look like the newer model Gen24 circled in the any brochures etc SAPN were not contacted before to add smart meter so it wasn't fully installed correctly after 3 days. So I contact NRG to state wrong inverter and position of panels etc, amd also its only generating about 3kw in November sunny Adelaide day. We have 30 degree pitch, no shade blocking, north south facing rectangle roof , ideal for full solar capabilities according to every single quote we have had. This is when I'm told that the Gen 24 is not in Australia yet, only possibly the 5kw (cant quite recall which smaller size) version which isn't big enough so I will have to wait until January and I will be the first in Aus to get one. In the meantime I meat with Dan who unbeknown to me is sick during covid pandemic meets at our house and apologises for the mess ups, looks at panels and ceilings and arranges to rectify which is great. Goes on roof and shows me one whole string of panels is not even plugged in! Ceiling gets patched, walls painted etc by their contractor, great job BTW! NRG turn up to move front panels to line up with gable and I mention not to walk across bulldoze verandah as its not designed to be load bearing or crush lead flashing as it will leak which the team leader argues with me over. (I'm a carpenter by trade and have built bullnoses many times) Young apprentice shows roof looks to be bouncing so I go into ceiling and notice cracked roof perlins from the install which I start to repair myself. I then wait months for the new inverter to arrive as its 6 months or so later and then I notice it's not generating any electricity I call NRG and days later they come back out and tell me it's been wired in wrong. By this stage I have no faith in the safety or quality of the system I ask for a full safety report which is when they find out the wrong wiring is used and they will have to come back again I also ask for a user manual to go with the system so I can know how the inverter works and also how to use auxiliary powerpoint. The manual i'm sent has diagrams of incorrect panel installation, states they have installed 2 inverters and they also magically fitted an extra 3 kw of panels on my roof that they couldn't fit before Safety report was completed before last lot of wiring was finished and no one went in the ceiling. Plus I monitor the system which is generating less than what it was with the older incorrect 8kw inverter and calling or emailing them they stopped getting back to me. I was told they monitor faults with this added equipment they put in, I would have a quality system with peace of mind. Worst overpriced low quality purchase ever. Previously contacted Solar Quotes for assistance numerous times on this, it will be on file.
Solar Panel - Jinko
There are better Jinko panels available at the time but told these were the latest with nest warranty.
Solar Inverter - Fronius
Chose this brand as they were the best, had many issues with install and not generating power.
