Noticeably more efficient than my other array
Very happy with the whole process. Dealt with DQ for my previous 6.6kW install on the North aspect of my house in 2021 and it was a no brainer to go with them again for price/ service/quality install. Both systems have been trouble free since first system install in November 2021 and apart from some server hiccups caused by the big worldwide outage I have had no trouble. DQ were on to it and sorted it out for me from their end. In May I added 15 JA Deep Blue 4.0 JAM54D40-440/LB/1500V on the southern aspect of my house ( 6.6kW) paired with a Gen 24 Fronius inverter and integrated smart meter. Total 13.2kW. Was not expecting much in winter months of May but I did notice on cloudy/overcast days the South side was just a whisker under the "ideal" North facing side which has LG panels and a Fronius snap inverter. Virtually doubles total production even on these sort of days. The JA panels are noticeably more efficient if they can nearly match the "ideal side" output from the less ideal South aspect. Roof pitch is about 22-23degrees. Well worth the addition. I am currently limited to 5kW exports but basically my North facing system exports at 5kW and the second system covers any self consumption so I am exporting 5kW consistently while any extra is taken care of via the second system. Currently running my ducted A/C on a 40 degree day in Adelaide and still exporting 5 kW. Total production being 8.11kW at the moment. I get production from about 7 am till 8pm when it tapers off to about 200w at this time of year. Best production for a day with the two systems has been 80kW on the 13th of January with sunny day export averages of between 40-50kWHrs which gives me about $3 a day in export returns. First system has broken even already according to my spreadsheet ( Exports +self consumption savings) Last month ( Jan 25) I calculate I saved $352 in self consumption and adding export value I saved a grand total of $443 ( Lots of days where ducted ran all day and part of the night or even overnight).
Solar Inverter - Fronius
Very happy with quality and monitoring software. Gen 24 also a bit quieter fan. Shelled out for the premium monitoring which gives me info from the first install in 2021 right through. Also adding second inverter was no problem as it was all Fronius and just worked. Worth the money in avoiding headaches. Go Fronius!
From sales to install and support have been flawless. The team were professional and efficient. They made the whole process extremely easy. I would definitely recommend DQ to any friend or family looking for solar.
The company was great to deal with during the process of selecting a company and product (no salesman BS). The team which came out to do the installation were all great and k ew their stuff. A good clean install finished on time. Thanks
Solar Inverter - Enphase
This is reason we changed and so far, very happy. Pic of Enphase control box attached.
Nice and friendly install team. They showed up on time and completed the work in a timely fashion. After sales support is rather lacking. I've made repeated calls to the company since install with questions and concerns. Unfortunately, getting them to return your calls or give direct answers to my inquiries has proven so difficult I've essentially given up. This does give a less than favourable impression of the company. I am left feeling as though, since they already have my money, I am no longer a concern to them. Disappointing, as the install team were great to deal with. Unfortunately, I will not be recommending them to my friends and family who are presently looking into solar.
Solar Inverter - Fimer (ABB)
The monitoring software is lacking and unintuitive. Annoyingly, the installer configured the WiFi without giving me the means to change the parameters myself. Main issue is the inability to alter the designated WiFi name. This means, I cannot ever change it at the router level without losing access to the inverter. Installer should ideally, grant permissions so I can make these adjustments myself. I dislike being locked out of hardware I've paid for. I've called about this issue in the past, but again, phone calls aren't ever returned.
