Apartment building in Balgowlah installs shared solar system

Allume solshare apartment building installation in Sydney NSW

A 4-storey, 8 unit building in Balgowlah, NSW has installed a shared solar system which will deliver renewable energy to all of the units in the building and to the common area supply.

Solar Choice was initially engaged by a strata committee member in 2022 to complete a feasibility study for the project presenting all the different options the owners have to consider to get solar panels installed. The feasibility study included a detailed breakdown of the expected costs and the savings expected for the common area and each individual owner.

Following presenting and explaining the options for solar to the committee, Solar Choice conducted a tender process for the shared solar system which was the owners preferred model. The 3 installers providing a quote had experience with high rise installations, concrete roof space and were accredited with shared solar systems.

The project went to a vote at an AGM early 2023 and the project was approved to proceed with the owner’s preferred installer from the tender. The project was installed later in 2023.

The installed system features 59 Jinko solar panels, a 20kW Sungrow inverter and an Allume solshare device. The system will produce around 40,000 kWh of renewable energy per year which will be evenly shared between all the apartments.
