Two early learning centres in the remote Victoria/NSW border town of Mildura have both gone solar with the aid of Solar Choice Commercial. The Mildura Central Child Care Centre on Lime Ave was fitted out with a 30kW system, while the Mildura Early Learning Centre on San Mateo Ave had a 40kW system installed.
Solar Choice was engaged to act as broker and tender manager for the projects after being approached by the centres’ owner, who had seen the benefits of rooftop PV on his own home. Whilst working with the client intensely for over a year, Solar Choice provided a number of iterations of Solar Quote Comparisons; the indicative business case initially provided by the Solar Choice team was similarly updated at least 3 times during this period as the market changed and solar system prices shifted.
Three installation companies were shortlisted by the client from an original lineup of about 7 to measure up and attend the sites. In the end, the company selected was not the cheapest, but rather the one who offered best all-around value.
Once the client had selected an installer, the remainder of the process moved surprisingly quickly, with grid connection approvals coming through within a week. The installation itself also went smoothly, even as the installers worked with the staff at the centres to ensure that stringent safety protocols were followed given the presence of children on-site.
Both systems used Aurora Power-One inverters and Yingli solar modules.
