[Updated on 1 July 2015 with new images]. Solar Choice Commercial has brokered a 100kW ground-mounted solar PV installation for Doug Hall Poultry in Millmerran, Queensland. Doug Hall is one of the largest suppliers of fresh eggs to Woolworths and Coles in Australia.
After Doug Hall Poultry selected Solar Choice to manage the tender for its solar project, the Solar Choice Commercial team put together an impartial business case based on the client’s electricity needs. The business case was continuously refined over a period of two years as the client’s power pricing changed – including the introduction of an increased kVA charge.
Solar Choice’s tender management platform allowed the client to make an informed choice from an initial selection of seven installation companies by providing them with an apples-to-apples comparison of the various product and pricing options.
A site survey coordinated by Solar Choice determined that a ground-mounted system would be a better option than a conventional roof-mounted system given due to the heavy insulation in the roof space and ammonia concerns. A geotechnical study (including soil chemistry analysis) was subsequently undertaken to ensure the integrity of the mounting technology.
