Solar Choice brokers 100kW solar system for Geelong High School

Solar Choice has brokered the installation of a 100kW solar PV system for Geelong High School, a co-ed public secondary school in East Geelong, Victoria.

The school opened in 1910, making it one of Victoria’s oldest state secondary schools. It moved to its current location (385 Ryrie Street, East Geelong) in 1915.

Geelong High School originally approached Solar Choice for assistance in November 2015. They had already received a set of quotes from a solar installation company for a 100kW system, but wanted a broader look at the market before making a decision.

The client informed us that the school would be undergoing a complete renovation over the course of the next 3 years, aiming to revamp its look and feel. The addition of a solar array was one of their objectives.

After reviewing the selection of reputable installers put forward by Solar Choice via our Tender Management Platform, decision-makers at the school selected two options for further consideration. The chosen installers were notified and introduced to the client accordingly to ensure a smooth transaction.

The school’s internal deliberations continued for roughly one year after initial contact, after which point the client chose one of two short-listed installers.

The array uses ReneSola solar panels and SMA inverters. School administrators have expressed great satisfaction with both the process and the end result of the project – and look forward to seeing the energy bill savings that are delivered now that the students have returned from their summer break.
