The Kurrawang Aboriginal Christian Community, located outside Kalgoorlie in remote Western Australia, has gone solar with a 36kW (DC) rooftop solar system.
The community had already received quotes for 30kW systems from a handful of installers before approaching Solar Choice Commercial for a broader look at the market in May of 2015.
Initially they were considering one 15kW array on the roof of a shed, with a separate 15kW ground-mounted array, but ultimately decided to go with two separate rooftop arrays on the recommendation of an installer in the Solar Choice network – whom they eventually selected to do the job.
Local network company Western Power approved the proposed system in January of this year; it was commissioned in early April.
In total, the arrays consist of two 15kW SMA Sunny Boy inverters and 139x 260W Jinko brand solar panels, all connected behind the same meter.
