Canadian Solar topped the list of foreign exporters of solar PV modules to Japan in 2013, supplying 508MW towards the country’s renewable energy drive following the Fukushima nuclear disaster.
In doing so, Canadian Solar has secured a very solid 7% share of the Japanese market. In December 2013 alone it reached financial close on 145MW across various solar farms, following from earlier success in November with the winning bid on the tender for a 14MW project in Japan’s northern Tohoku region by developer Eurus Energy.
Canadian Solar’s Australian office has also forged ahead lately with wins in a number of large commercial tenders, including the multi-megawatt roll-out for Ikea stores nationwide.
